December 14: Pet coke imports via Kolkata Port improved sharply to 18,075 tons in November 2015 after plunging to an abysmal 307 tons in October, according to provisional data available with ICMW.
Imports of the material in November 2014 were at a much lower 5,204 tons and for full fiscal 2014-15, were at 165,009 tons.
Total imports of the material in the first eight months of the current fiscal of 2015-16 edged down 9.10% to 112,772 tons against 124,066 tons seen in the same period of the previous fiscal.
Following is the break-up of month-wise imports of pet coke via Kolkata Port in 2015-16 and 2014-15:

In November this year, 18,050 tons arrived from Saudi Arabia at a price range of Rs 3,632 – 3,912 ($106) and the balance 25 tons from China at a unit price of Rs 35,312 ($533).
October saw a volume of 10,749 tons arriving from China at a unit price of Rs 50,443 ($763-772).
