Pet coke imports via Vizag drop 25% in October

November 11: Pet coke imports through Vizag Port were at 83,625 tons in October 2014, against a volume of 111,223 tons in September, 2014, according to provisional information available with ICMW, showing a drop of 24.81%.

In October, 32,993 tons arrived from Kuwait at a unit price of Rs 12,774 ($205), 29,770 tons from China in a band of Rs 8,707 – Rs 12,869 ($141-417) per ton and the balance 20,862 tons from Indonesia at a unit price of Rs 10,235 ($165).

In September, 36,484 tons arrived from China in a band of Rs 8,565- Rs 25,330 ($140-415) per ton, 44,105 tons came in from Canada at a unit price of Rs 5,979 ($97) while the balance 30,634 tons arrived from the US at a unit price of Rs 8,974 ($147).

It may be noted that Vizag Port was affected by Cyclone Hudhud which had made a landfall in the southern India city of Vizag last month. Consequently, cargo handling at the port suffered, bringing down import volumes.
