Pet coke imports through Vizag Port went down 24.61% month-on-month to 169,740 tons in January 2016 against a volume of 225,161 tons seen in the preceding month of January 2016, according to provisional information available with ICMW.
With the addition of the February figures, total pet coke imports for the first 11 months of the current fiscal (2015-16) stood at 1,366,443 tons against 723,013 tons reported in the same period of the previous fiscal, rising 88.99% in this period year-on-year.
In February 2016, imports of the material were at a much lower 32,993 tons.
Total imports of the material in financial year 2014-15 were at 803,601 tons.

February 2016 saw 50,828 tons arriving from China in a price band of Rs 6,471 – 14,212 ($94 -208) per ton, 74,912 tons from the US at a price band of Rs 3,265 – 3,355 ($48-49) per ton and the balance 44,000 tons from the Philippines at a unit price of Rs 2,334 ($34).
January 2016 saw a mere 170 tons arriving from China in a price band of Rs 23,092 – 34,226 ($344-507) per ton, 148,717 tons from the US at a price band of Rs 3,458 – 17,017 ($51-250) per ton, 54,998 tons from Saudi Arabia at a unit price of Rs 2,708 ($40) and 21,276 tons from Indonesia at a unit price of Rs 12,391 ($181).
