October 28: Pet coke imports through the port of Vizag dropped sharply by 54.51% to 97,300 tons in September 2013 against 213,939 recorded tons in August 2013, according to provisional information available with ICMW.
With this, imports of steam coal in the first six months of 2013-14 stood at 568,773 tons whereas the figure stood at 304,180 tons during the corresponding period of 2012-13.

In September 2013, 20,980 tons arrived from Indonesia at a unit price of Rs 16,808 ($257), 21,652 tons came in from Kuwait at a unit price of Rs 6,531 ($97) while 54,668 tons arrived from the US at a unit price of Rs 6,531 ($97).
In August 2013, however, 23,042 tons arrived from Azerbaijan at Rs 16,706 ($270) per ton, 24,375 tons arrived from China in a price band of Rs 16,388 – Rs 11,108 ($251-$170) per ton, 133,591 tons came from the US in a price band of Rs 6291-Rs 8924 ($102-$145) per ton among others.
