September 20: Pet coke imports through the port of Vizag rose a sharp 188% to 213,939 tons in August 2013 against 74,041 tons recorded in July, according to provisional information available with ICMW.
With this, import of steam coal in the first five months of 2013-14 stood at 471,473 tons whereas the figure stood at 260211 tons during the corresponding period of 2012-13.

In August 2013, 23042 tons arrived from Azerbaijan at Rs 16,706 ($270) per ton, 24375 tons arrived from China in a price band of Rs 16,388 - Rs 11,108 ($251-$170) per ton, 133,591 tons came from the US in a price band of Rs 6291-Rs 8924 ($102-$145) per ton among others.
In July 2013, however, 25,516 tons came in from China at a price range of Rs 13,411-Rs 21,104 ($225-$349) per ton and 48,525 tons were imported from the US at a price of Rs 6,403 ($108) per ton.
