Imported pet coke prices stay largely stable

With not much change in the demand-supply scenario, prices of imported pet coke CIF India remained largely unchanged during the past few days, traders said.

“Prices had softened to a low of around $38-39 per ton CFR India sometime back, but with the recent firmness in freight rates, it is again back to $41-42 per ton,” they said.

They pointed out that freight rates from US to India had firmed up to $18-19 per ton recently, but were again down to $15-16 per ton.

Prices are likely to move around current levels as there are not many changes in demand.

Earlier, there was an anticipation that China would stop buying pet coke in order to bring down pollution levels in the country, but it is still buying and that is providing support to the price, they added.
