Imports of steam coal through Pipavav Port stood at 100,214 tons in January 2016, down 22.57% month-on-month compared to 129,432 tons reported in December 2015, according to provisional data available with ICMW.
Imports amounted to 82,015 tons in January 2015.
Total imports of the material for the first 10 months (April to January) of 2015-16 were at 889,311 tons.
Total import volumes of the material for the same period in the previous fiscal (2014-15) were at 437,806 tons, though, for seven months in the current fiscal, no figures were available.

In December 2015, a volume of 5,000 tons were imported from South Africa at Rs 3,975 ($59) per ton. Further details of the remaining 124,432 tons were not available.
