Plan expenditure by coal miners at 70% of outlay

January 12: Plan expenditure incurred by three state-owned coal and lignite miners, viz Coal India (CIL), Singareni Collieries Company (SCCL) and Neyveli Lignite Corporation (NLC), was much below the outlay for the period April-November, 2014, according to coal ministry data.

Total cumulative expenditure by the three companies stood at Rs 4,895.07 crore, about 70% of the total targeted expenditure of Rs 6,947.52 crore set for the April-November, 2014 period.

Of the total expenditure incurred, CIL accounted for Rs 2,431.02 crore, SCCL for Rs 1,468.25 crore, while NLC incurred the remaining Rs 995.80 crore, the data shows. 

Total Plan outlay for the miners in 1214-15 is Rs 12,011 crore.
