Poor demand for coke/coal fines in Mar e-auction

April 27: There was very poor demand for coal and coke fines offered by SECL for sale through MSTC’s e-auction platform in March 2015.

A volume of 150,700 tons were offered of which only 5,050 tons got allotted at a weighted average price of Rs 5,711 per ton.

In the previous month on same platform, too demand had been poor as only 8,650 tons had got allotted out of an offered quantity of 135,200 tons, at a weighted average price of Rs 5,570 per ton.

A soft trend in prices and availability of imported met coke at much lower prices appear to have impacted the demand.
