Power demand in J&K partially restored

September 18: Power supply in the flood-affected state of Jammu & Kashmir has been partially restored, thanks to a slew of measures taken by the Union Power Ministry and cooperation from state and private agencies supplying power in neighbouring states, according to an official release.
“In the valley, power demand up to 704 MV has been restored which is almost 88% of the normal load,” the release said.
“In the Jammu region out of damaged 17 33/11KV sub-stations, 14 have been restored which are feeding important areas like Beli Gulaba, Malhouri, Mandi , MES and Rajouri. Efforts are on to restore the remaining 3 lines soon,” the statement said.
In order to augment the efforts for faster restoration of power, states like Chhattisgarh, Punjab, Haryana, Karnataka and many private agencies responded to the call by the Secretary (Power) and offered their help in the form of power distribution s materials, it added.
