In line with the upward trend witnessed since Monday, power stocks registered gains on Indian bourses on February 19, riding on global cues.
The S&P BSE Power index was up 6.86 points (0.41%) to close at 1,670.51 on February 19 from the previous closing of 1,663.65. The highs and lows on February 19 were 1,678.68 and 1,651.12, respectively.
The performance of the global indices was strong on Friday. Global markets such as CAC, DAX and FTSE closed in the green against their previous close.
The Sensex increased 267.35 points (1.14%) to close at 23,649.22.
The performances of individual power stocks were largely positive. The highest growth was registered by Torrent Power which gained 3.56% to close at Rs 224.25. The maximum loss was registered by Jaiprakash Power which lost 2.21% to close at Rs 4.86.
