The power index exuded strong positivity as it received support from the BSE Sensex, climbing up on Monday.
Last Thursday, the power sector was hit by tariff issues raised by regulators. However, traders said that the market has factored in the issue and grew depending on company fundamentals. It is seen that both Adani Power and Tata Power scrips increased around 3% on Monday.
The S&P BSE Power index increased 37.90 points (2.10%) to close at 1,838.51 on April 11, from the previous closing of 1,800.61. The highs and lows on April 11 were 1,841.95 and 1,803.20 respectively.
Global markets such as CAC, DAX and FTSE and the Sensex remained strong and were trading nearly 1% up.
Sensex increased 348.32 points (1.41%) to close at 25,022.16
On April 11, most of the stocks on the S&P BSE Power closed in the green. The maximum gain was registered by Reliance Infra, with the stock increasing 6.53% to close at Rs 576.2. The maximum loss was registered by Alstom T&D, with the stock decreasing 0.8% to close at Rs 421.6.
