New UserPower index edges up, but stays tepid entire week

The power index remained range-bound on Friday. It may be recalled that the index remained lacklustre through the entire week. Market experts said the reason behind the sideways movement is the stagnation in the economy.
The S&P BSE Power index edged up 8.05 points (0.47%) to close at 1,716.06. on March 18 from the previous closing of 1,708.01. The highs and lows on March 18 were 1,719.53 and 1,707.79 respectively.
Global markets such as CAC, DAX and FTSE were trading down on Friday from their previous close. The Sensex turned green on March 18.
The Sensex increased 275.37 points (1.12%) to close at 24,952.74.
On March 18, all of the stocks on the S&P BSE Power closed in the green. The maximum gain was registered by CESC, with the stock, increasing 3.43% to close at Rs 476.8. The maximum loss was registered by Suzlon Energy, with the stock decreasing 2.69% to close at Rs 13.02.
