Power index ignores global cues, still in bear zone

The power sector remained in the red on Thursday and this has been the case since Monday. There had been a positive note in the entire previous week.
The S&P BSE Power index was down 35.45 points (2.19%) to close at 1,585.70 on February 25 from the previous closing of 1,621.15. The highs and lows on February 25 were 1,627.66 and 1,581.29, respectively.
Even though the performances of the global indices were positive on Thursday, the Sensex was down on Thursday. Global markets such as CAC, DAX and FTSE decreased more or less 2% against their previous closes.
The Sensex decreased 112.93 points (0.49%) to close at 22,976.00
The performances of individual power stocks were largely negative. The highest growth was registered by PTC India which gained 1.01% to close at Rs 60.05. The maximum loss was registered by Crompton Greaves which lost 7.42% to close at Rs 12,475.
