The power index was marginally up on Tuesday due to the overall positive sentiment and global cues.
The S&P BSE Power index increased 16.99 points (1.06%) to close at 37.39 on March 1 from the previous closing of 1,619.87. The highs and lows on March 1 were 1,622.54 and 1,583.55 respectively.
Global markets such as CAC, DAX and FTSE as well as the Indian Sensex all closed up 1-1.5% on Tuesday from the previous closes.
The Sensex increased 777.35 points (3.38%) to close at 23,779.35. This is the biggest one-day gain in 7 years.
On March 1, most of the stocks on the S&P BSE Power closed in the green. The maximum gain was registered by GMR Infra, with the stock increasing 3.84% to close at Rs 11.35. The maximum loss was registered by Jaiprakash Power, which decreased 2.05% to close at Rs 4.3.
