The power index turned marginally red on Tuesday, though it remained range-bound and the upside-downside movement was within 1%. The index remained choppy and directionless for the entire last week.
The S&P BSE Power index edged down 3.32 points (0.19%) to close at 1,704.57 on March 15 from the previous closing of 1,707.89. The highs and lows on March 15 were 1,711.93 and 1,701.53 respectively.
Global markets such as CAC, DAX and FTSE closed 1-2% down on Tuesday from the previous closes. The Sensex also remained in the red.
The Sensex decreased 253.11 points (1.02%) to close at 24,551.17.
On March 15, most of the stocks on the S&P BSE Power closed in the red. The maximum gain was registered by CESC, with the stock, increasing 3.24% to close at Rs 479.5. The maximum loss was registered by Crompton Greaves, which decreased 71.68% to close at Rs 43.9. The scrip is also the biggest loser on the Sensex too because of the de-merger of the company.
