The power index remained directionless and red on Wednesday too continuing a trend seen from the beginning of the week impacted by the bleak global sentiment.
It may be recalled the index had remained choppy through last week.
The S&P BSE Power index edged down 1.17 points (-0.07%) to close at 1,703.40 on March 16 from the previous closing of 1,704.57. The highs and lows on March 16 were 1,713.03 and 1,693.98 respectively.
Global markets such as CAC, DAX and FTSE were trading marginally up on Wednesday from the previous closes. The Sensex remained in the green.
The Sensex increased 131.31 points (0.53%) to close at 24,682.42.
On March 16, most of the stocks on the S&P BSE Power closed in the green. The maximum gain was registered by Crompton Greaves, with the stock, increasing 6.64% to close at Rs 46.8. The maximum loss was registered by Suzlon Energy, which decreased 1.95% to close at Rs 13.55.
