The power index turned green after a 2-day long marginal red spell. Power stocks had been range-bound and the Sensex bleeding for the last two days. However, when, on March 30, the Sensex rallied over 400 points, the power index increased significantly too.
On Tuesday, Sudarshan Sukhani of S2Analytics said, the power sector wound remain strong till March 31, a trend being felt in the market.
The S&P BSE Power index increased 43.39 points (2.53%) to close at 1,761.24 on March 30 from the previous closing of 1,717.85. The highs and lows on March 30 were 1,764.64 and 1,728.62 respectively.
Global markets such as DAX and FTSE all were trading nearly 2% up. The Sensex also followed the same trend.
The Sensex increased 438.12 points (1.76%) to close at 25,338.58.
On March 30, most of the stocks on the S&P BSE Power closed in the green. The maximum gain was registered by Adani Power, with the stock increasing 10.9% to close at Rs 32.55. The maximum loss was registered by PTC India, with the stock decreasing 0.56% to close at Rs 65.55.
