The power index was marginally up on Wednesday due to the overall positive sentiment and global cues.
The S&P BSE Power index increased 34.55 points (2.13%) to close at 1,654.42 on March 2 from the previous closing of 1,619.87. The highs and lows on March 1 were 1,666.67 and 1,636.36 respectively.
Global markets such as CAC, DAX as well as the Indian Sensex all closed up 1-2% on Wednesday from the previous closes.
The Sensex increased 463.63 points (1.95%) to close at 24,242.98.35.
On March 2, most of the stocks on the S&P BSE Power closed in the green. The maximum gain was registered by BHEL, with the stock increasing 4.91% to close at Rs 97.25. The maximum loss was registered by Thermax, which decreased 1.04% to close at Rs 755.1.
