The power index remained range-bound on Thursday. Market experts said the reason behind the sideways movement is the stagnation in the economy.
The S&P BSE Power index edged up 4.61 points (0.27%) to close at 1,708.01 on March 17 from the previous closing of 1,703.40. The highs and lows on March 17 were 1,721.71 and 1,697.89 respectively.
Global markets such as CAC, DAX and FTSE were trading down on Thursday from the previous closes. The Sensex turned red on March 17.
The Sensex edged down 5.11 points (0.02%) to close at 24,677.37.
On March 17, most of the stocks on the S&P BSE Power closed in the green. The maximum gain was registered by BHEL, with the stock, increasing 4.23% to close at Rs 110.85. The maximum loss was registered by CESC, which decreased 3.53% to close at Rs 461.
