Power sector turns green after 4-day bear-run

The power sector turned green on Friday after a four-day long bull-run since Monday. Pre-Budget sentiment and global cues are the main reasons behind the increase in stock prices.
The S&P BSE Power index was up 13.77 points (0.87%) to close at 1,599.47 on February 26 from the previous closing of 1,585.70. The highs and lows on February 26 were 1,609.22 and 1581.05, respectively.
Global markets such as CAC, DAX and FTSE as well as the Indian Sensex all closed nearly 1.5-2% up on Friday from the previous close.
The Sensex increased 178.30 points (0.78%) to close at 23,154.30.
The performances of individual power stocks were largely positive. The highest growth was registered by Crompton Greaves which gained 2.44% to close at Rs 127.8. The maximum loss was registered by Jaiprakash Power which lost 5.34% to close at Rs 4.43.
