Amidst poor performance in the global market, the power index edged up, riding on the performance of private power companies.
The sentiment in the power sector remained positive ahead of Coal India’s e-auction for power plants.
The S&P BSE Power index increased 11.43 points (0.61%) to close at 1,884.32 on April 18, from the previous closing of 1,872.89. The highs and lows on April 18 were 1,886.96 and 1,858.08 respectively.
Global markets such as CAC, DAX and FTSE were in red zone while the Sensex remained in positive zone.
Sensex increased 189.61 points (0.74%) to close at 25,816.36
On April 18, most of the stocks on the S&P BSE Power closed in the green. The maximum gain was registered by Torrent Power, with the stock increasing 5.11% to close at Rs 238.5. The maximum loss was registered by Alstom T&D, with the stock decreasing (-) 2.2% to close at Rs 404.3.
