Production affected at NCL, MCL mines of CIL

March 19: Production of coal from at least three mines of Coal India Ltd's Northern Coalfields Ltd (NCL) and four mines of Mahanadi Coalfields Ltd (MCL) were severely impacted in March due to various reasons, including non-availability of environmental clearances, an official from the company told ICMW.

"Production was affected at NCL's Bina, Krishnashila and Block B due to non-availability of environment clearance," the official said.

"Besides, NCL, no production was reported from MCL's Lakhanpur mines while restricted production was reported during the month from Anant OCP of Jagannath Area of MCL due to crack development near the fault plane," the official added.

"Lack of production at Lakhanpur mines affected despatches of coal from Ib Valley, LB: IB-6 and TAL-6 mines," the official said, but could not provide the extent of production loss.
