As many as 130 power projects with a combined generation capacity of 94,527.50 MW were under construction in India as on December 31, 2015, according to the Central Electricity Authority (CEA).
Of the total 130 projects, 83 are thermal power projects with aggregate generation capacity of 80,865.50 MW and the balance 47 are hydro power projects (above 25 MW) aggregating 13,662 MW, the CEA added.
Of the total 83 thermal power projects, 20, with total capacity of 24,780.50 MW, are being set up by central sector companies like NTPC, DVC and NLC, while 22 projects, with a combined generation capacity of 18,710 MW, are being set up by various state generation companies.
A large number of 41 projects, with a combined generation capacity of 37,375 MW, is being constructed by private sector companies.
