R R Mishra to be new CMD of WCL

June 26: The Public Enterprise Selection Board (PESB) has recommend R R Mishra currently working as Director (Personnel) with Central Coalfields Ltd (CCL) to be new Chairman and Managing Director of Western Coalfields Ltd (WCL).

The post of WCL is currently lying vacant after the sudden demise of D C Garg on June 18 in Hyderabad following a massive cardiac arrest.

Even before the death of Garg, PESB was looking for a suitable candidate for the post of WCL CMD as the tenure of Garg was set to expire in November 2014.

Mishra may take charge as CMD soon, official sources said.

A total of 13 candidates were interviewed by PESB on June 6, 2014 after which R R Mishra’s name was recommended for the post of CMD of WCL.

The other candidates who were interviewed for the post are C B Sood, Executive Director of Coal India Ltd, Niranjan Das (Director-Technical of CCL), S Chakravarty (Director-Technical of Eastern Coalfields Ltd), R N Jha (Director-Technical of MECL), Shekhar Saran (Director – Technical of CMPDIL), V K Sinha (Director-Technical of CMPDIL), Jitendra Singh (Chief General Manager of MCL), R C Sanodia (CGM of WCL), R K Nigam (General Manager of SECL), B B Singh (Director-Commercial of MSTC), B P Verma (GM of SAIL) and Nitin Dhimole.
