REC to be nodal agency for Deendayal scheme

December 19: Rural Electrification Corporation Limited (REC) will be the nodal agency for operationalisation of the Deendayal Upadhyaya Gram Jyoti Yojana (DDUGJY) scheme and will be paid 0.5% of the total project cost as its fee. The projects shall be appraised and duly recommended by the nodal agency for approval of the monitoring committee chaired by Secretary (Power), Ministry of Power, Government of India, according to an official communique.
The Rajiv Gandhi Grameen Vidyutkaran Yojna (RGGVY), as approved by the CCEA for continuation in the 12th and 13th Plans, will get subsumed in DDUGJY as a separate rural electrification component for which the CCEA has approved an outlay of Rs 39,275 crore, including a budgetary support of Rs 35,447 crore. This outlay will be carried forward to DDUGJY in addition to the Rs 33,453 crore approved for the latter.
