RIL yet to take call on participation in e-auction of coal blocks

November 03: Reliance Industries Ltd (RIL), which has decided to convert all its existing gas fired power plants to coal fired one, has not yet firmed up any plan to participate in proposed e-auction of captive coal blocks, a source told ICMW.

“It (whether to participate in bidding) is not yet decided,” the source said.

Meanwhile, Essar Power Ltd, a group company of Essar Energy Plc., is believed to be contemplating to participate in the bidding process as the blocks held earlier by them have been de-allocated.

“Essar Power is exploring options to participate in e-auction,” an industry source had told ICMW a few days back.

Some other coal consuming sectors too are working out plans to participate in the auction, according to feedback received by ICMW from industry sources.
