Railways’ Apr-Oct freight loading up 4.79% y-o-y

November 12: Indian Railways carried 621.66 million tons (mt) of revenue-earning freight traffic during April to October, 2014, up 28.41 mt or 4.79% compared to 593.25 mt carried during the corresponding period of the previous year, an official release said.

During October, 2014, the revenue-earning freight traffic carried by Indian Railways stood at 89.22 mt, up 8.47% or 6.97 mt over the actual freight traffic of 82.25 mt carried during the same period last year.

On a month-on month basis, too freight traffic of the Railways increased from 86.71 mt carried in September 2014.
