Railways’ Apr-Oct revenue earnings up 12.06%

November 11: Indian Railways’ total earnings on originating basis during April-September, 2014 stood at Rs 86,595.04 crore compared to Rs 77,273.88 crore earned during the same period last year, registering an increase of 12.06%, a government release said.

During the month of October, revenues of Railways stood at Rs 13,191.37 crore, up 12.29% from Rs 11,748.03 crore in October 2013, data revealed.  

During the April-October period, the total approximate earnings from goods were at Rs 57,646.68 crore, up 11.12% as compared to Rs 51,877.98 crore earned during the same period last year.

The total approximate revenue earnings from passengers during April-September, 2014 were at Rs 24,716.97 crore as compared to Rs 21,247.64crore earned during the same period last year, recording an increase of 16.33%.

As per the release, the approximate revenue earnings from other coaching amounted to Rs 2,331.36 crore during April-September, 2014 compared to Rs 2,187.47crore recorded during the same period last year, registering an increase of 6.58%.
