Railways’ Apr-Sept freight loading up 4.2% y-o-y

October 14: Indian Railways carried 532.44 million tons (mt) of revenue earning freight traffic during April to September, 2014, according to a government release.

The freight carried shows an increase of 21.44 mt over the freight traffic of 511 mt actually carried during the corresponding period last year, recording an increase of 4.20%. 

During September, 2014, the revenue earning freight traffic carried by Indian Railways stood at 86.71 mt, up by 2.18% or 1.85 mt over the actual freight traffic of 84.86 mt carried by Indian Railways during the same period last year.
