Railways carried 445.73 mt of freight traffic in Apr-Aug, 2014

September 9: Indian Railways carried 445.73 million tons (mt) of revenue earning freight traffic during April to August, 2014, showing an increase of 19.59 mt or 4.6% increase over the freight traffic of 426.14 mt carried during the corresponding period last year, a government release said.

During the month of August 2014, the revenue earning freight traffic carried by Indian Railways stood at 88.15 mt. There is an increase of 5.01 mt over the actual freight traffic of 83.14 mt carried by Indian Railways during the same period last year, showing an increase of 6.03%, the release added.
