Reliance Power lights up 6th boiler at Sasan UMPP

January 5: Reliance Power Ltd, on January 2, said it has achieved the boiler light-up for its sixth and last 660-MW unit for its 3,960-MW Sasan ultra mega power plant (UMPP).
This is a critical milestone of the boiler commissioning activities for the units, the company said in a release.
The Sasan UMPP is the largest integrated power plant and coal mining project in the world, the release claimed.
Coal production has already commenced from the 20 million tons per annum Moher and Moher-Amlohri coal mines associated with the power project, the release added.
Reliance Power is India’s leading private sector power generation company and has the largest portfolio of power projects in the private sector based on coal, gas, hydro and renewable energy with an operation portfolio of 5,285 MW.
The company also has the largest captive coal reserves in the private sector, estimated at 2 billion tons.
The company is also developing three coal mines in Indonesia and coal bed methane blocks.
