Reliance Power terminates Tilaiya UMPP PPA
29 Apr 2015
April 29: Reliance Power, on April 28, said that Jharkhand Integrated Power Limited (JIPL), a wholly-owned subsidiary of the company, has terminated the power purchase agreement of its 3,960-MW Tilaiya ultra mega power project due to delay in the allotment of land for the project.
Reliance Power was awarded the project in 2009.
“JIPL had signed a power purchase agreement with 18 power off-takers in 10 states for 25 years. For fuel security, the project was allotted the Kerandari BC captive coal mine block. However, the required land is yet to be made available,” said a company statement.
Reliance Power also alleged that the Stage II forest clearance, which had been given by the central government in 2010, has not been handed over to JIPL till now.
For the coal block, the company alleged, process of land acquisition is yet to be initiated.
Reliance Power said it had submitted the application for land acquisition way back in February 2009.
