S Africa’s coal exports fall 4.58% in Oct m-o-m

November 7: After registering a month-on-month rise of 15.13% in August and 7.27% in September, total coal exports through South Africa’s Richards Bay Coal Terminal (RBCT) fell by 4.58% in October, according to data made available to ICMW by one of the promoters of the terminal.
Exports in October fell to 6,389,015 tons from 6,695,949 tons in September.
Exports during the month were also lower by more than 12.18% from 7,274,907 tons exported in October 2013.
Exports to Antwerp-Rotterdam-Amsterdam (ARA) in October 2014 fell by 51.39% to 871,769 tons as compared to only 1,792,184 tons exported in September 2014. Exports to some Asian countries, other than India, also fell sharply during the month.
