S Africa’s coal exports up 10.25% in July m-o-m

August 11: Total coal exports through South Africa’s Richards Bay Coal Terminal (RBCT) rose by 10.25% in July after falling for three months in a row till June, according to data made available to ICMW by one of the promoters of the terminal.
Exports in July 2014 rose to 5,421,814 tons from 4,917,647 tons in June whereas exports in July 2013 stood higher at 6,160,290 tons.
Beside Malaysia, exports to Pakistan, Madagascar, Brazil and France also registered month-on-month rise even as there was a decline in exports to countries like Mauritius, Tanzania, Yemen and the UAE.
Total exports during the first seven months of 2014 through RBCT stood at 36,848,935 tons, down 5.93% as compared to 39,173,687 tons exported through the terminal during the corresponding period of 2013.
