S Africa’s coal exports up 15.13% in August m-o-m

September 15: Total coal exports through South Africa’s Richards Bay Coal Terminal (RBCT) rose by 15.13% in August as compared to the quantity exported in July, according to data made available to ICMW by one of the promoters of the terminal.
Exports in August 2014 rose to 6,242,109 tons from 5,421,814 tons in July whereas exports in August 2013 stood higher at 5,161,617 tons.
Beside Pakistan, exports to Japan, Kenya, La Reunion, Argentina, Denmark and Egypt also registered month-on-month rise even as there was a decline in exports to countries like Malaysia, Italy, Senegal and the Uruguay.
Total exports during the first eight months of 2014 through RBCT stood at 43,091,044 tons, down 2.81% as compared to 44,335,304 tons exported through the terminal during the corresponding period of 2013.
