S Africa’s total Nov coal exports down 15% m-o-m

December 22: Total coal exports through South Africa’s (SA’s) RBCT in November 2015 stood at 6,412,936 against 7,546,596 tons exported in October, down 15.02% month-on-month, according to data available with ICMW.

Total coal exports through the terminal in the first eight months of the current fiscal of 2015-16 (April-November) stood at 49,739,689 tons, compared to 55,278,944 tons recorded in the same period of the previous fiscal, showing a decrease of 10.02% year-on-year over the same period.

November 2015 imports were down 9.83% compared to 7,112,245 tons seen in the same month in the previous fiscal (November 2014).

South Africa’s coal exports via RBCT during the first 11 months of 2015 rose by 7.91% to 68,294,882 tons from 63,288,253 tons seen during the same period of 2014.
 

The rise in total exports over January-November could be on account of the fact that India’s share in the total exports rose to 47.98% compared to 42.11% seen in the same period of the previous calendar.
