Following cues from global indices like CAC, DAX and FTSE as well as the Indian Sensex, most of the power scrips on S&P BSE Power closed in the red on February 3. The Sensex lost 315.68 points (1.29%) and closed at 24,223. Most of the sectors were hit and power was no exception.
The S&P BSE Power index closed at 1,709.80 on February 3, 2016, down 74.27 (4.16%) points from the previous close of 1,784.07. On February 3, the market opened at 1,832.69 and touched 1,755.07 points intra-day before closing at 1,709.80.
Apart from only one stock, Alstom T&D, all others lost in the market on Wednesday. Major power stocks such as Suzlon Energy, NTPC, Adani Power, BHEL lost 12.35%, 4.1%, 4.4% and 4.86% respectively.
