SA coal exports to Atlantic countries fall 3.58% in May m-o-m

June 11: Imports of coal from South Africa’s Richards Bay Coal Terminal (RBCT) by Atlantic countries fell 3.58% in May 2014 compared to the volumes imported during the previous month, according to provisional data available with ICMW.

Exports through RBCT to Atlantic countries stood at 987,136 tons in May 2014 against 1,023,773 tons recorded during April 2014.

On the other hand, in May 2013, the export figure stood at 688,527 tons.

During the first five months (January-May) of 2014, total coal exports to Atlantic countries stood at 8,007,755 tons whereas the figure stood at 8,253,285 tons during the corresponding period of the previous year.

On the other hand, during FY2013-14, total imports stood at 26,253,834 tons as compared to 26,064,273 tons imported during FY2012-13.
