SA coal exports to Atlantic nations up 66.38% in Aug m-o-m

September 15: Imports of coal from South Africa’s Richards Bay Coal Terminal (RBCT) by Atlantic countries rose 66.38% in August 2014 compared to the volumes imported during the previous month, according to provisional data available with ICMW.

Exports through RBCT to Atlantic countries stood at 2,505,926 tons in August 2014 against 1,506,106 tons recorded during July 2014.

On the other hand, in August 2013, the export figure stood at 1,363,637 tons.

During the first eight months (January-August) of 2014, total coal exports to Atlantic countries stood at 13,156,806 tons whereas the figure was at 11,227,171 tons during the corresponding period of the previous year.

On the other hand, during FY2013-14, total imports stood at 26,253,834 tons as compared to 26,064,273 tons imported during FY2012-13.
