December 7: There was continued weakness in standard South African coal prices amid expectations that demand would remain soft in 2016.
Although a report claimed that China has approved a large number of new coal-fired power plants this year, contrary to its stated stance of reducing dependence on coal, market sources said the sentiment in the international coal market remains weak and expectations low.
