An improved trend prevailed in international coal markets on May 16 amidst stable demand levels despite reports of a marginal slowdown in Chinese imports, market sources said.
South African coal remained in attraction and gained slightly despite reports that the unions at Drummond in Colombia had accepted the company’s contract offer. But Indonesian coal prices inched up amidst stable demand, they said.
Coking coal prices corrected sharply amidst low appetite from the steel mills at current levels, they added.
However, met coke prices continued to move erratically and spurted amidst reports of low availability even as actual deals are hardly happening at the current levels, they said.
