SAIL’s FY17 coking coal consumption seen flat
17 Mar 2016
The Steel Authority of India Ltd (SAIL) is expected to consume almost same the quantity of coking coal in 2016-17 that it consumed 2015-16, according to a senior official from the company.
“Our anticipation is that we will use almost the same quantity of coal in 2016-17 as we are going to use in 2015-16, but the plan for next year is yet to be finalised,” the official told ICMW.
“May be, the plan for coking coal procurement in 2016-17 will be slightly higher. But it is too premature to comment on next year’s requirement at present. May be, we will arrive at next year’s requirement in the next few days,” the official said.
According to the official, SAIL’s 2015-16 coking coal consumption is likely be about 13 million tons.
