April 21: The Federation of Coal Industry Retired Employees Association, an umbrella body of several retired employees of Coal India Ltd (CIL) and its subsidiaries, has moved the Supreme Court against alleged anomalies in the pension scheme offered by the coal mining company, but the apex court has referred the case to Delhi High Court, a spokesperson for the Federation told ICMW.
“We have filed a petition to the Supreme Court which has referred it to Delhi High Court,” the spokesperson said.
Noting that “there are various anomalies in the pension scheme,” he said, “we have been trying to bring those to the attention of the management, but to no avail.”
He said that in a number of cases, there are huge discrepancies between pensions received by the retired executives. Also, in many cases, there has been no increase in the payment despite provisions for regular revisions.
