SCCL becomes joint undertaking under Telengana govt

June 3: Singareni Collieries Company Ltd (SCCL), which was so far owned by the Government of India (49 percent) and Andhra Pradesh state government (51 percent), has now come under the fold of the newly-formed Telengana government.
“As per the Twelfth Schedule of the Andhra Pradesh Reorganisation Act, 2014, the entire 51 percent stake of Andhra Pradesh government in SCCL is now held by the Telengana government,” a company official told ICMW. The remaining 49 percent stake continues to be held by the Indian government.
The Telegana state was formed on June 2 and consists of 10 north-western districts of the erstwhile state of Andhra Pradesh of which SCCL is spread over four districts, namely Adilabad, Karimnagar, Khammam and Warangal.
SCCL is the second largest coal producer in India after Coal India Ltd (CIL) with production volumes of 50.47 million tons in 2013-14.
