SCCL despatches up 11.4% in FY16

Singareni Collieries Company Ltd (SCCL) has clocked an 11.4% jump in coal despatches to 58.67 million tons (mt) in 2015-16, compared to 52.65 mt achieved in 2014-15.

According to data released by the company, despatches in 2015-16 was 105% of the target of 55.95 mt set for the year.

In March 2016, SCCL reported total despatch of 5.35 mt, which was 2.29% higher than 5.23 mt achieved in the same month a year ago.

Coal despatches grew in tandem with production growth during the year, but slowed down since February 2016 as the company allegedly regulated output in view of the slowdown in demand from user segments, especially the power sector in the country.
