SCCL production target at 60 mt for FY16

April 21: Singareni Colliieries Company Ltd (SCCL), which fell short of its production target of 55 million tons (mt) in 2014-15, has been given a steep target of 60.03 mt for 2015-16, a senior official told ICMW.
“The FY16 target, as given by the Ministry of Coal (MoC), is 60.03 mt. This implies almost 8 mt of increase over the last year’s production,” the official said.
Asked about the company’s preparedness to achieve the target, he said, “We expect to achieve at least 90% of this number.”
The pick-up in production from Adriyala Longwall project will help in augmenting production, he said. also, the company is targeting to expedite the Kakatiya Longwall project for which it is going to appoint a technology partner, he added.
Coal production from the 49 mines of SCCL stood at 52.54 mt in 2014-15, up 4.1% compared to 50.47 mt produced in 2013-14, according to provisional data available with ICMW.
The 2014-15 production was marginally higher than the (revised) target of 52.50 mt, but below the original target of 55 mt, the data showed.
