December 14: Singareni Collieries Company Ltd (SCCL) is taking up developmental activities for acquiring coal in the future from the lower seams at its Adriyala Longwall project.
According to information available with ICMW, the company plans to construct a number of inter-seam tunnels along with other developmental works such as construction of underground strata bunker, haulage tunnel, drain and man holes, supporting systems and disposal of muck and water, among others.
The project for tunnel drivage operations is scheduled to be completed within a period of 20 months.
The Adriyala project, the largest Longwall in the Indian coal mining sector, has been facing glitches and suffered a major break-down (related to power supply) in May 2015.
The project, which has a peak capacity of 2.8 million tons per annum, achieved total production of 370,000 tons in the March quarter and 330,000 tons in the June quarter of 2015. The project feeds NTPC’s Ramagundam power station in Telengana.
