SCCL puts wind power foray on the backburner

March 13: Singareni Collieries Company Ltd (SCCL), which had planned to foray into the wind power sector, has put the proposal on the backburner, a company official told ICMW.

"There has been no progress on this. The project is virtually frozen," the official said.

SCCL had invested heavily in thermal power and is coming up with 2x600 MW thermal power plants (TPS) at Jaipur in Adilabad, Andhra Pradesh.

Withdrawal from the wind power space was also prompted by concerns over its feasibility, sources said.
