07 Apr 2015
April 7: Coal production from the 49 mines of Singareni Collieries Company Limited (SCCL) stood at 52.54 million tons (mt) in 2014-15 (FY’15), up 4.1% compared to 50.47 mt produced in 2013-14, according to provisional data available with ICMW.
The FY’15 production was also marginally higher than the (revised) target of 52.50 mt, but below the original target of 55 mt, the data showed.
In March, the Telengana miner achieved 6.59 mt, the highest in the year, and also exceeding its monthly target of 5.29 mt.
The March 2015 production was up 22.7% month-on-month as compared to 5.37 mt produced in February, the data showed. It however was slightly below than 6.65 mt achieved during the same month a year ago.
Commenting on the performance, a company official said the delay in commencement of production at Adriyala underground Longwall project and issues related to contractors had restricted output in the first few months of the year. Now with those issues solved, the miner expects to see significant growth in 2015-16.
